FERTILIZER FERTILIZER
Standard Fertilizer for Turfgrass: Your lawn requires a balanced fertilizer program with nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium to keep it healthy and strong. Most soils have some of these elements present, but usually they become depleted over the years. Your lawn is a very hungry plant during the growing season. Proper fertilizing with balanced applications throughout the growing season promotes thick, dense grass that can resist disease and weed invasions. Applying too much of any one of the basic elements can cause poor results. Balance is the key.

• Regular application approximately 1 time per month is ideal

Weed Spray for Turfgrass: Broadleaf weeds are generally the easiest to identify of all the weeds. They have leaves that are broad, and are generally produced in pairs or multiples, have wide, flat leaves situated on a stem. Broadleaf weeds are distinctive from and are not closely related to grasses and sedges. For best control of broadleaf weeds it seems spot treatment is preferred for optimal results. Spot treatment limits the amount poison applied to your lawn and delivers better weed control.

• Requires regular application approximately 1 time per month for standard weed control
• More frequent applications needed to control widespread weed infestation
• Water area thoroughly before allowing kids or pets in the area
• Refrain from watering for approximately 12 to 24 hours for best results

Pre-emergent for Crabgrass: Some common lawn weeds are annuals. Sprouting from seeds, they develop, blossom and form new seeds, then die in the fall, repeating the process each year. Crabgrass is one such weed. This type of weed is very difficult to remove or control without harming the lawn. Applying pre-emergent control in the early spring provides control of crabgrass and other annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in established lawns. It will provide little to no control of crabgrass post-germination depending on the stage of growth. To activate this product it must receive a ½” or more of rainfall or irrigation.

• Water immediately following application no less than ½”
• Water before allowing kids to play on the lawn
• Pets can go on the lawn but no toys, chew bones or food on the lawn until it has been watered in

Pre-emergent for Broadleaf weeds: This is a unique pre-emergence herbicide that prevents the growth of 95 species of broadleaf weeds, including dandelion, thistle and spurge for up to eight months. This product is only able to control weeds at the seed level to halt the root and stem development resulting in the seed death prior to the seed ever breaking the soil. This product must be activated by at least ½” of rainfall or irrigation.

• Best if done spring and fall until noticeable control of weeds

• Lowers the surface and interfacial tensions of the soil/water relationship and allows the water to spread out and penetrate into the soil
• Improves plant root-zone moisture and improves soil drainage, not by changing the characteristics of the soil, but by changing the behavior of water
• Acts as a sequestering agent in the soil, allowing essential nutrients (nitrogen, iron etc.) to attach to the root system of a plant
• Recommended use each time fertilizer is applied
• Breaks up or loosens hard soils by increasing water penetration and root activity
• Early spring applications help get turf growing again and turn dark green
